Pitty Paws Bully Rescue & Transport is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to assisting in rescuing & rehabilitating dogs in Texas.
PPBR rescues and rehomes all breeds, but their focus is the bully breeds that have been brought to the local kill shelter, abandoned or surrendered by their owners, or found stray on the streets.
Their mission includes putting an end to the negative stigma of pit bulls and bully breeds and to be true ambassadors of all breeds by promoting responsible dog ownership through education, training, respect for others (both human and canine), spay/neutering, and proper identification through microchipping are just some of the key components emphasized.
There are so many wonderful dogs waiting for their forever homes, many the result of irresponsible or uncontrolled breeding. PPBR ensures all rescues are spayed or neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated before being placed in a new adoptive home.
Education is just as important when owning a bully breed as well as any other breed of dog. PPBR strives to educate all foster and adoptive parents on the characteristics of their 'Pitty Paw' pup so that when they are confronted with myths and stereotypes, they can share facts instead.
Currently our intake is closed as we prepare for our personal move. There are some wonderful dogs available at DogHouse ArtHouse or Deez Louis Dogs, who are looking for forever families. All of these dogs have been temperament tested and are currently living in local foster homes.
If you are interested in adopting, please refer to their websites for more information on their adoption fees and processes and someone will contact you as soon as possible.
*** NOTE - All dogs are physically located in Victoria, Texas and transport is available if necessary. ***
Your new family member is waiting to meet you!
Pitty Paws Bully Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We are a volunteer-operated organization which means that 100% of the funds donated go directly to the forever dogs still in our care, for the dogs we help foster for other rescues and for assisting in transporting these fosters on their journey to their new homes. All donations are tax deductible. Without your generous support we would not be able to continue to help the dogs we do.
We accept Venmo - @PPBRescue or CashApp - $PPBRescue
We are grateful for any amount we receive and sincerely appreciate your support! Thank you for your contribution! Your donation will help us continue our mission and support our community. Every dollar counts and will make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
We are not veterinarians, so seek a vet's advice for your dog's health care, but here are the generally accepted standards for vaccinations.
We can not impress on you the importance of keeping up with the vaccination schedule. Puppies are NOT fully protected with only one shot, and even when they have had all 3 necessary shots they can still be exposed to and contract distemper and parvo! Puppies should receive a series of vaccinations starting at six to eight weeks of age. A veterinarian should administer a minimum of three vaccinations at three- to four-week intervals. The final dose should be administered at 16-18 weeks of age. Some adult dogs might receive certain vaccines annually, while other vaccines might be given every 3 years or longer.
Finding a rescue to take your dog can be daunting. Most are full, below is a partial list of email addresses for some of the other Texas Bully rescues. Please try them to see if they have any space or can refer you somewhere. Animal Rescue Directory has a fairly comprehensive list of rescues across the United States that you can also try! Thanks for trying to help abandoned animals!
Here are the steps to follow when you've found a dog, you should be prepared to take care of the dog for a while if you are not willing to take it to the local animal shelter as most rescues and their fosters stay full.
Texas now has a tethering law in place making it illegal to tether a dog in certain conditions. Our first preference obviously is to bring them inside during inclement weather, but we understand that's not always possible, so here's some ideas of what you can do to provide them a safe place during the cold & hot seasons.
State law says that a dog (pet) can not be outdoors if the temperature is below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, so be prepared to bring the dog inside a building of some sort if at all possible. Here are some other things you can do:
When caring for your animals during the summer it's important to provide these few things.
It's hard to find a residence that will allow pets and many place unnecessary "breed restrictions" on dogs. Here is a good resource to start with that allows pets and many do not have those nasty restrictions in place.
The pandemic has disrupted life in many ways and pet care is no exception. Luckily, telemedicine is helping to continue to connect Americans with providers for their pets during these challenging times. But like with all new and emerging technologies, not all are created equal. We investigated the most popular online pet care and veterinary services platforms and identified the highest quality and most convenient options. Travel season has arrived, and many pet owners are preparing to take their furry friends on their next vacation. However, traveling with pets requires more than just letting Fido hop into the passenger seat. Keeping your pet safe while driving isn’t difficult; with proper supplies, your pet can stay safe while driving and enjoy the ride. Here’s How to set yourself and your pet up for a successful drive.
Get in touch and we'll get back to you as soon as we can. We look forward to hearing from you!
